Acne & Scarring

Treatment for acne and scarring

Acne is a common skin condition commonly suffered by teenagers, however it also occurs in all age groups and presents itself in mild, moderate and severe cases. Fortunately, it is a treatable condition if dealt with in a timely manner and with correct acne treatments. If left untreated, acne can often lead to scarring.

At the Marian Rubock Clinic we specialise in acne skin care and treatment. With over 32 years of medical experience, and having personally suffered from skin disorders, Marian is passionate and dedicated to helping you achieve the glowing and healthy skin you’ve always wanted, without the use of harsh chemicals.

Contact Marian Rubock Clinic today if you suspect you may have one of the following types of Acne:

Acne Type 1

Acne Type 1 is the mildest form of acne and is non-inflammatory. It can be triggered by a digestive imbalance and often presents itself as closed and/or open comedones, which we know as whiteheads and blackheads.

Whiteheads occur when the natural sebum (oil) and bacteria your skin produces become trapped, often resulting in tiny flesh coloured bumps. If and when your pores open, the oil previously trapped will oxidize and turn black. The discolouration that takes place is due to our natural oils carrying melanin (pigment), and when exposed to the surface, these turn brown or black, hence the term ‘blackhead’.

Acne Type 2

Acne Type 2 is a moderate and inflammatory form of acne, however can potentially become severe and spread on the face and/or body. Possible causes are Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome and/or insulin resistance. Acne type 2 occurs when a follicle ruptures, causing it to become red and inflamed. This inflammation is known as a papule, and is caused by the white blood cells filling our pores, and again, becoming trapped.

If by this stage, the correct acne skin treatment has not been used; white blood cells will make their way to the surface of the skin causing a pustule, or what we commonly refer to as a pimple. These pustules are what we associate with acne.

If left untreated, Acne Type 2 can worsen and become extremely painful and inflamed, with the possibility of nodules (hard painful lumps under the skin) or cysts occurring. These nodules and cysts are usually the cause of scarring. It is therefore vital you seek the proper acne treatment before potential scarring occurs.

Acne Type 3

Acne Type 3 is often associated with our diet and lifestyle. Unlike Acne Type 1 or 2, Acne Type 3 is associated with occasional breakouts and can appear random in its presentation. It is associated with our diet, as the food toxins will pass through various organs, therefore leading to random breakouts.

Stress is an extremely common factor in Type 3 Acne and can encourage the issue by triggering the toxins we carry to the surface. If left untreated, this acne can progress into other more severe forms of acne.
